Storyline of Corteo
February 22, 2008 - In Corteo, we follow the mind of a clown picturing his funeral as a carnival. The show places many opposing forces beside each other, from large and small to tragic and comedic, combining the two into a curious cacophony of opposites. All the while, angels are looking down from above, watching over the entire scene. This gives the viewer a feeling of safety throughout the entire show's sadness and fragility. The audience automatically identifies with the clown, leaving them feeling as though a part of them is walking around in this juxtaposed world right alongside the imperfect clown. We find, in the end, that the clown has the strength and wisdom to make it through this illusion.
